Purpose:
-
To make the ruins of the Merchant’s Mill more accessible to citizen
and visitors and add a safer environment for learning and enjoying our
town’s history
-
Increase the ability of the police to more quickly and safely monitor
the site on their regular routine town walking inspections.

Clean up

Historical Tour of Site

Work to be done:
Remove Dead Wood and Trash

Remove driftwood and fallen branches
-
Load in trucks and haul away
-
Use chain saw for larger pieces Trim Trees and Brush
-
Remove dangerous over hanging limbs and branches
-
Clear cluttered vines
Over Look Safety Barrier (Safety)

- Step the path with 4x4 post and gravel
- Hand support of rope
Straw and Seed (To hold soil in place)
- After raking debris away there will be soil open to erosion
- Work within the Chesapeake Bay Standards
- Spread grass seed and straw on
open soil
Light the Site (Night time safety)
- There are existing light boxes on back corner of museum
- They have one working bulb
- Add another light each (Halogen Type) and direct at site
- Install motion detector
- Add another light (Halogen type) in trees closer to site
